A wooden board on wheels with a name reminiscent of that of the skateboard, the ArthroSkate, when used in conjunction with physical rehabilitation therapy, is an effective tool for improving range of motion in the knee. It can be used both individually by the patient to perform active range of motion (AROM) and by the physical therapist to aid in active assistive range of motion exercises (AAROM).

The Jackson Arthritis Center lends the ArthroSkate to qualifying individuals in order to expedite rehabilitation following both primary and revision total knee replacements (TKR).

As a proactive approach to rehabilitation, the individual uses the ArthroSkate to focus upon both quadriceps activity and arc of motion of the knee concurrently; thus, promoting an efficient and successful recovery.
